    Yamaha VF150LA V MAX SHO Four Stroke;

    I am thinking of repowering with this motor. After looking at the specs. between this engine and the F200 I don't' see much difference than the money.

    Anyone have any input on this motor in comparison between the 150 V max and the F 200.

    Also is the 150 v max a solid platform?

    There have been some people that have flashed the 150 vmax SHO to over 200 horsepower with Nizpro. If you did that then you would not be underpowered anymore and might have some additional weight savings.

    I assume you would void the warranty with flashing?

    I highly recommend a V6 200 engine. The inline 4 cylinder engines are 2.8 liters and weigh approximately 480 lbs, whereas the 200 V6's are approximately 60 lbs heavier. The difference in torque between these engines is significant. I suspect the 4 cylinder will not provide the overall torque to satisfy the Ranger 619.

    Thanks for the input. I had not thought about that. That's the kind of thing that makes BBC so great. My current engine has plenty of torque and it's a 6 cyl

    These guys may be correct about the the torque from the 4 cylinder. The Nizpro website claims 225 ft/lbs of torque which is up from 202 ft/lbs on the standard 150 SHO after the flash.

    I suggest comparing the torque curves at low-end and mid-range, rather than at top end. Torque throughout the entire rpm range is what should be considered.
