Ford anticipated this loss, as did Wall Street. Zero surprise factor.
Now, back to the regularly scheduled BBC EV hand wringing.
Companies can use that one at the next shareholders meeting.
Lost 2 billion, but we anticipated it, we are not surprised, so it’s OK.
Do they still have to pay tax on the lost money, or is it one of those “tax loopholes” you guys talk about, where money flows directly from the government to the automakers?
Thanos was the hero
That’s exactly what they’ll say and do. And it won’t be a surprise because they showed a glide path last year and the year before that goes out at least 10 years and maybe 20 that guaranteed clearly shows expected losses for many years until they cross in to profitability with that line of business. They’ll further show how the business fared against their assumptions and forecasts and then adjust.
I don’t know the answer to your tax question.

Did Ford drag their feet on EV R&D and now have to invest in a short amount of time to catch up?
Do most of these EV batteries still come from China?
Michigan spent $715M of taxpayer™ $$$ a Chinese linked battery co.

We don't want the arm of the Chinese Communist Party in Michigan: Tudor Dixon
Former Republican gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon blasted Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Wednesday for moving forward with plans to allow $715 million dollars of taxpayer money to fund a Chinese Communist Party-linked business in the state.
Gotion High tech-Co., a battery company based in Hefei, China, announced its plans last year for a roughly $2.4 billion electric vehicle battery plant in Big Rapids, Mich. that would bring an estimated 2,350 jobs to the state, according to a press release from Whitmer’s office.

Here's one definition of pollution. Does CO2 emitted by burning fuel of one type or anther qualify?
pollution, also called environmental pollution, the addition of any substance (solid, liquid or gas) or any form of energy (such as heat, sound, or radioactvity) to the environment at a rate faster than it can be dispersed, diluted, decomposed, recycled, or stored in some harmless form.
