    Vault Hubs

Just changed out my vault hubs on my RT 188. They still had grease but were not sticking out at all. Man they were a tight fit. Made it a 3 hour job, and pretty messy. Almost worth paying someone.

Anyone else have a hard time getting them on? Replaced with new ones.

I fully intend to have my local Ranger dealer do this when the time comes - hopefully before one of the wheels comes off! I have my doubts on my abilities and I have two trailers to worry about.

Mine still had grease in them but wanted to be safe. Never felt warm after towing boat.

Curious as to what year and boat/ trailer you have ?
As my 2021 rt188p came with standard hubs.

I just replaced mine a few weeks ago. Original to the trailer from 2015. No leaks and the caps were still pressurized. One noted thing was that the grease that came out was SUPER thin and liquidy. Like it had lost its ability to re-gel into a solid when sittings. Bearings still looked to be in really good shape.

On my setup it was impossible to use the O ring seal. They would just push out of the hub bore. Just coated the new caps with RTV and hammered them home with a PVC cap. (Yes, they are VERY tight)
