With a good maintenance you can expect 8-10,000hrs
Thank you
My 5.0 Ford PU truck has around 1000 hours and 30,000 miles. 10,000 hours would be around 300,000 miles. That is unlikely, but perhaps possible. However, a marine application is more severe. The 5.0 cruises at 1800 rpm or half the rpm that a boat engine would cruise at. A new 5.0 Coyote engine from Ford costs significantly less than a new TM lower unit for my 300R. I would be interested in the maximum hours reported so far for a Mercury V8 outboard.

my 2010 ram 1500 with a hemi has around 9000 hours and 275,000 miles but like stated im turning 2100 rpm at 75 mph my boat is 6200 rpm at 75 mph so i think 5000 plus hours on a bass boat would be extremely rare i will be happy if i get over 1000 hours on my v8 merc my hpdi blew at less than 300 hours
Just getting broken in.............

I suspect the way an engine get's treated is going to have a big effect on how long it lasts. People who run around wide open all the time are going to see shorter engine life than people who go slower. Boat engines are made for high speed but still speed costs. If you cruise at 3/4 of your boats top speed I suspect you'll see much more engine life. IE, if you want to cruise at 60mph get a boat/engine that's capable of 80mph. If you want to cruise at 45 get one that will go 60. He man "mines bigger than yours" tournaments are rarely won by the fastest boat. They're won by the best fisherman.
