I have a 225 optimax if I go to a new mercury 4stroke will my gear shifter controls hook up still or do I have to replace all controls also thanks

You would purchase a conventional mid section (CMS) 4 stroke engine and the existing controls will work.

Few items are needed- extension harness for keyswitch (unless you have at least 5' extra in the back somewhere), new-style rigging tube, suitable battery that exceeds requirements, 3/8" fuel line direct to engine, new mounting hardware, and strongly recommend some form of Smartcraft Instrument/Display/Device.

Will also need a different prop.
