    Are these plugs indicating something?

Doing some maintenance on my 2011 200hp ProXS (sn in signature) and noticed some differences in the way the spark plugs looked on #4, #3 holes as they were tan on one side and black on the other. Also, #1 hole was tan, but was lighter than the rest. Pics for references.

Are these sooty plugs indicative of needing my injectors checked out? The motor has been running great. Always use the cocktail, and non ethanol fuel. It has around 210 hours on it.

    Thanks for any advice.

New plugs and gapping correctly, cleaning injectors and replacing oil filters would be a good idea. I change my check valve on number 6 also, starboard side front, supplies oil pressure. Oil filters come off of compressor, supply oil to main bearings

Thanks Ron. I did put new plugs in and gapped to .043 with feeler gauge. I have a tournament this weekend. Think it would be ok to run it and then get injectors serviced or do I scrap the tourney and get them serviced now?

Thanks for the tip on wire gapping tool. I installed these plugs 4 years ago and they have around 40 hours on them. Very little idle time.

Let's back up just a moment.

    1. What plugs did you use?

    2. This engine does NOT gap spark plugs at .043".

    3. Spark plugs must be replaced every 364.99 DAYS, or 100 hours of operation, whichever occurs FIRST.

    4. Those plugs did not look that bad considering it had probably idled a decent bit AND they may have been 1000+ days past due for replacement....

IZFR5G plugs, looks like I misread the bulletin and need to regap at .032-.033. Thanks for the heads up.

I don’t idle hardly at all except for warm up and waiting on takeoff. I don’t fish many larger lakes 10k + acres and they are relatively shallow lakes so not much scanning.

I’ll try to change plugs out a little sooner next time.

Might want to try indexing, just for fun, shapie mark on open side of plug and try to do your best swapping plugs around so open side of ground strap is towards the injector

Factory did this on plugs that were gapped to .043" for some time. The official answer to Ron's suggestion on "not having the arm facing the injector" resulting in better idle quality was that "we can neither confirm nor deny that hypothesis".

Their recommendation was a torque wrench set at 20 lbs/ft.
