The "N" in the model name refers to Network.
iPilot LINK is a network connection (Ethernet),
To use the Minnkota MDI, the G2N has to be the Down Imaging model and the software has to be current enough to have HW CHIRP and be compatible with the Built-in HW+ MDI transducer.
There are two G2N Helix 9, 10, and 12 DI models:
Helix 9 CHIRP DI GPS G2N
Helix 9 CHIRP MEGA DI GPS G2N

The third and fourth generation Helix 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 15 Down Imaging models are compatible with the Minnkota MDI transducer with no software concerns. Just need the adapter to convert the 14-pin plug to 7-pin to connect to a Helix.
    MKR-MI-1 for the Helix 8-15
    MKR-MDI-2 for the Helix 7

Helix 7's have two versions, one is not networkable and the other is (must be the "N" version)
