St Croix Xtreme XFS73MLXF for small jerkbaits?

Currently using St Croix Elites (6’ MLF and 6’3” MLXF) for small jekbaits (#3-7, maybe #9 size rapalas) for bass in a farm pond.

I got a great deal on a new Xtreme 7’3” MLXF. Never had a ML spinning rod of that length and wondering how it’ll handle the small, light jerkbaits (small soft swim baits under 3”)?

Should be okay. I never liked an extra fast for treble hook baits personally.

St Croix sandbags on their ratings. That rod is actually a Medium power rod. It might be a little too much for treble hook baits, but could be ok if you have a reel with a smooth drag and set it light. St. Croix does the underrating thing for decreased warranty claims. Their LXF is actually great for treble hook baits up to a Vision 110.
The best revenge is to have enough self-worth not to seek it.
