The 3 in 1 transducer looks just as good if not better in some instances.

Love the comparison videos that RMP does, not gonna waste the money on the Pro or new module. Can’t believe this is the best that Lowrance can do.

After seeing that I think I'm just going to stick with my Carbons and SS3D

I’m looking forward to seeing the down imaging the most on the water. The 3n1 was a huge step down from previous versions for me in this mode for marking deep fish on DI. Hoping the HD is a big step up or at least as good as LSS2 or 3D DI.

Well now, that sure didn't look as I expected.

I will make a guess and a hope, that the software update that will be coming out, will correct this. The last one did an amazing job on the 3n1. Lets hope the new one will make the 3n1HD better than this.

I don't see anything to make me change from my LSS-1 and 2.

I’m also looking forward to any improvements in DownScan. The AI ducers at 600 kHz DownScan were garbage for any bottom detail. Also, I wish they’d have compared 455 kHz HD CHIRP vs 455 AI SideScan. I use 455 almost exclusively.

From the video, on the HD it looks like they were able to get rid of that annoying lip across the first part of the bottom that 800 khz had.

IMO, the HD is showing small details better than the AI. The edges of rocks are sharp with HD whereas with the AI, you can still see the rock but not the sharp angles. Because of this sharpness, I could distinguish some fish in the HD that were not visible on the AI. I don’t see enough to change especially since I’ve run 3D since it came out and feel like it still is the best. If I was starting new though, for me personally I would get an AI HD 2in1 and a separate 2D. My reasoning is, if all the software improvements that were applied to AI over the years and made it as good as it is now, are also applied to HD, it will become better than 3D in time. I would not have a 3in1 on my boat but they are saying there will be a 2in1 available. That would be my choice IF rigging a brand new boat..

I would really like to go on a rant about how everything new is being “software” blamed. But I will refrain, why does this stuff keep getting released, if it’s not ready.

Now maybe, RMP could have changed the frequency and got better images and I hope that is what the problem was. I was looking in the Garmin interpretation page and WOW, it’s better. Unfortunately, I can’t afford the money to start over at this time.

Look at the clarity, why can’t Lowrance get this and the AT2, to work this good?

Very disappointed in Lowrance as I was hoping for an improvement.
    Not just a minor improvement.

As a scientist, I can understand why they did it the way they did. It wouldn't have been fair to compare CHIRP HD to regular AI since AI can't CHIRP. They were trying to show any differences between AI and HD under fair conditions. As I mentioned in my post there are some very small improvements. Hopefully in the future they will show a comparison of Garmin and Lowrance CHIRP Sidescan, which is the more scientific comparison. It would also be interesting to show CHIRP HD vs AI. My impression is the differences there would be more significant.

Having just gone from the LSS2 to the AI 3-1 transducer, a few things were noticed.
AI - There is a brown band shown at the bottom as another post stated above on 800hz
AI- The 800hz distance is great in >30ft of water. Washes out the deeper you go.
LSS2 - the downscan was better in showing bottom detail.
AI - I can be almost stationary and see hybrid stripers all round the boat. I LIKE THIS. You had to be moving with the LSS2.
Garmin and Humbird sure are better. Too far $$ into this to change now. I'm looking for fish not taking commercial pictures. Lowrance does that for me.

Not even close to make it worth a change IMHO. I am really disappointed this was a supposed improvement over AI. At the most it is a tiny bit crisper by the thinnest of margins. I hope they do better with the release with AT2 over AT1....
