    2000 520vx Setup - 225 Opti

    I installed a 6" slidemaster manual jackplate.

Prior to the jackplate, my 25" Tempest would max out at 59.3 and would not turn it much past 5500 (21% slip), now with the jackplate, I can turn that 25" tempest at 3.25 below pad right to 5700+ but the boat is slow as shit at ~54mph (31% slip). Water pressure is about 24psi at WOT and lose a little pressure in the turns, but not real bad.

I also have a 24" small hub Trophy, I can wind this prop up right to the rev limiter (5750) at 3.5" below pad and running 56.3mph (25% slip). The prop is dinged up so not super worried about top end with that, and a 24" is clearly not enough prop. Before the jackplate, it would turn right to 5700+ and run 58.4gps (22% slip)

So, in short, this Ranger is slower now. 1/4 tank of fuel on port, 3/4 tank of fuel on starboard. Not a crazy amount of tackle in it. I'm getting bad prop slip numbers.

Where do I need to go from here? Love the way the boat lifts and handles with the small hub trophy... Both props need to go in to be cleaned up...

Something is WAY off here and it sounds like more than a prop issue. I fished with two different guys for years that ran 520-VX w/ 225 Opti's and they both ran 68+ w/ tournament load on their worst day. They both ran 25" Trophy props w/ 6" Bob's jack plate. Thjeir props were out of the box / no aftermarket work. Your numbers with the 25" Tempest are off also. Are you sure your engine's throttle is fully advancing?

Definitely should be running at least mid 60's with a load and 2 people. Buddy used to have one and I believe it ran 68ish light and 65 with me in the boat. Lifted well.

I have same boat and motor daul consoles , 25 tempest plus.
Light load one power pole , no jack plate best run 71 gps,
now have dual power pole 10’ blades, 8” manual slide master jack plate , heavy tournament load me 270lbs 6’1” and son 5’11”& 235 lbs running 65 gps all the time when running balls out.
so I would say you definitely have something off , maybe take to shop put on scanner see if anything is off and make sure throttle is opening full throttle.
I have hot foot throttle i don’t think that makes a difference, oh I also made a plate that goes on bottom of jack plate so doesn’t catch a bunch of water . I hope you figure it out that would be very frustrating, Good luck
