    Thermostat gasket question

Hi Guys, Looking for a little help. 1988 Merc 150 XR4 (OB264398) I bought thermostats and gaskets from Don in 2021 and just installing them now. It's been years since I've changed them so doing that now along with the poppet valve just as preventive maintenance. Poppet done but now I'm not 100% sure how the gaskets go on the thermostats. Does the rubber lip go down (into the head) like I have in the picture or the other way? Really can't tell by the old ones as it almost looks like they have a lip facing up and a lip facing down. Thanks in advance for your help.

Install would be perfect if it was underneath the thermostat cover.

Thanks Don...... They are underneath the covers now... I wanted to make sure because my old ones clearly has the lip heading down but also looks like there's a lip facing up. More on one than the other.
