On my last trip out, I started getting these vertical lines in my Helix SI imaging. Does anybody have leads as to what may be causing them? This was the first trip after the 2.8 update, but that could be pure coincidence.

Those look like the range lines you can choose to see so you can easily see how far targets are to the side. I don’t remember the proper name, but it will be on the sonar options on the SI screen.

SI Range Lines in the main Sonar menu. They are white, not monochrome as the picture shows.

They are spaced at 30’ intervals, but probably coincidence. A reset to defaults after the update might fix it.

I tried resetting to factory defaults but I can't be sure that did anything. I still see the same lines as posted "up there", but that might be in the data. I'll have to get back on the water to see if that fixed it.
The even distribution of the lines struck me as odd, as well. I don't know how exactly the transducer produces images (if it did it in steps of 30 feet, that would actually be an explanation). But it made be believe that this isn't an issue with what the transducer can see.

I have to admit, your screen shot has me scratching my head. I can't imagine anything but a malfunction of some sort that would cause something like this. It's really strange that it is so symmetrical.

Humminbird support thinks it might be electrical interference. Which didn’t make any sense to me seeing how I’m on a PDL kayak without trolling motor. But then I realized that my two ion lithium batteries in the hull (30aH total) might have shifted and sat right right on top of the transducer. I moved them away and will see if that helps.
Moving the battery (or resetting to factory defaults, but I suspect the battery) did indeed fix my issue :)
