    Engine shutter/shake 250 FS

    2021 250 proXS serial #3B040122 500+hrs.
Had to run some rough water Saturday for a 30 minute run. 25minutes in I lost the trim gauge reading on my Merc gauge. It read 26 when I was probably at 1.5-2. Turning around 4000-4200 rpm the motor had a shutter or a shake to it. The throttle felt like i was on a limiter! If i backed off it would stop. Pressed the throttle and it wouldn’t speed up but would just shake.

Got to our destination and fished all day. Ran back and it was fine for 12 minutes and started it again and loss the trim gauge again. By the time I got back to the ramp it was running normal again. Motor gave no beeps or alarms. Anyone have any clues or had this happen before? Was a bit unnerving 30 miles from blast off. Added these photos this is the trim pin on the main trim cylinder. Am I missing a bolt in the second pic and is the main pin backed out?

Yes and yes on your two questions, the bolt is missing. Fortunately the main pin did stay in and needs to be addressed immediately before future use.

Engine guardian due to "perceived" over-trim condition.

Get it in to your dealer to have the set-screw addressed.
