lithium batteries 50AH or 100ah with 36v ultrex

Got a new to me boat. thinking about lithium batteries. Has a 36 volt Ultrex. was wondering if anyone is using 50ah batteries with a 36v ultrex and how is the performance? previous boat had a 24v ultrex with 50ah lithium batteries and it worked well. the 36v has a high amp draw.

    thanks!

A 36V motor won’t have a higher amp draw than a 24V motor. It’s the opposite. The 24V motor draws more current. An 80lb MK draws 56A max, while the 112 draws 52A max.

ah. i googled it (probly my first problem), and it returned an article saying the 24 draw was 30 amp, and the ultrex was 38 amp. And then i just now found this great article which confirm what CatFan is saying. https://trollingmotorpro.com/trollin...mp-draw-chart/. Thanks CatFan!

I have had 50ah Ionics for my 36v Ultrex for close to two years. I have never come close to running them all the way down. This past weekend, I fished in high wind for 8 hrs with the Ultrex on 8 or 9 all day. At the end of the day they were still at 45% charge.

For now I am using ONE Monster 36V 50 amp battery for my Ultrex 112# 36V. I know I can get 8 miles out of it because I used it to get back across the lake when my tilt stuck in the up position on my big motor. I know I can get two six hour days out of it. If it ever gets to the point I'm not satisficed I'll just add another 50amp and run them in parallel.

I run a single 36v Impulse Lithium 40 ah for my Minn Kota Ulterra 112 on my 24’ Pathfinder. Boat holds 80 gallons of fuel and 50 gallons of livewells, probably carry another 500 lbs of gear and 2 or 3 grown men powered with Yamaha 300. I fish some pretty extreme current in coastal georgia and usual I’m on spot lock running at 6 to 8 power almost at all times. I have yet to run that battery down below 80%. I’m using Impulse’s charge on the run charger that came with the battery. Every 30 minute boat ride charges my lithium back up to 100%. It’s honestly endless power. I was really worried that 40 ah wasn’t going to be anywhere close to enough capacity. I am completely blown away at the performance of the system. They have a 60 ah available in the 36v now. That’s all you would ever need.

I have 60ah Impulse batteries for my 36v Ultrex. I can fish 2 tournament days on them and still have juice left. Casual fishing can go a lot longer.

    Call Bill at Impulse.

Would go 3 12 volt 60 ah powerhouse or a 36 volt 60 ah powerhouse best warranty in the industry 15 year total 10 years no proration. 50s are too small IMO. I would opt for a 60 20% more capacity and a battery with a much longer non proration then 5 years. However if you had a 24 volt on (2) 50s then you must not run that trolling motor very hard I dont know many that that would be enough for.

    If you had a 80 on 2 50ah you will be happy with a 112 on 3 50ah.

if you wanted more then get 100's

I compare battery capacity to fuel tank capacity. 90% of the time I burn 20 gallons or less in a day but I sure prefer my 50 gallon tank for options.

I'm in the same boat, thinking of a 36v 60ah and seeing where I'm at. It seems like it will cover most days. If I feel like i need more I will add another, but at the same time I would like the redundancy of two 36vs

I have three 100ah Ionics on my Ultrex, zero issues and power for days.

Reach out to Andy/Drewcraft here on BBC, excellent customer service.

I replaced mine with 3 50ah Ionics and I can say it’s a big difference

I was worried that it wouldn’t be enough but I can get 2 or 3 days out of them before charging (zx250 w/Ultrex 112)

Biggest difference is when fishing the river I can run back up and try to unsnag my jig without seeing any fall off by the end of the day like I would with the lead acid batteries
And I still get two full days doing this

Nice thing is I now get more than half my snags back saving me time and money

Happy to help you the 36 volt 60 ah is a great option for most couple it with a run and gun and more then most would need . twin 40 ah 36 if you want double redundency its what I run in my personal boat. 10% BBC discount and wont find a better lithium with a better warranty with Powerhouse. Powerhouse the new big thing in lithium here on BBC.
