    Check your lug nuts!

Picked up a screw in my left rear tire. When I got home I jacked it up and hit it with a 1/2 drive impact. First 2 came off easy. 3rd one I had to use a breaker bar. The last two took 3 hours to get off. Broke 2 sockets and a breaker bar with a cheater pipe on it. Went around to the other 3 wheels and checked to see if I could break them loose. All good there. But it would have been a bad deal if I had been on the side of the road. Boat was new in May 2020. 1st time I've tried to break them loose.

I always take mine off and put just a little anti-seize on them and retorque. Also back off on the torque 110-120 ft-lbs posted on the trailer. I reduce by 20%, have also seen guys say use 80 ft-lbs on aluminum wheels which I have. Put some anti0seize on the taper of the lug nut too.

Heating with a propane torch can help sometimes.

I always like to apply anti seize when I rotate them.

I don't have a Phoenix. I did used to work on Volkswagens. I had to buy a 3/4 inch breaker bar to tighten the single nut that held the flywheel (235 ft#) on and the rear axle nuts. After I broke half inch breaker bars I went to the 3/4" setup. NO lug nuts stayed on when I used a cheater bar and a 6 point impact socket. Something would always give. I did, however, replace the pin in the 3/4 breaker bar with an 8 grade bolt after I sheared it.

Just had this same issue. Used a pipe on a breaker bar also. Torqued to 120 after.

Thanks. Checked mine before a long trip and needed a breaker bar to loosen.

I don’t want to start a whole debate about whether it’s okay or not, but for those that put on anti seize I would at least suggest a recheck of the torque after like 50-100 miles. Any kind of oil or lube is going to change the torque spec a little.
