Questions for my RT drive'n, MG Tour Pro use'n buddies...

    So,

    (1) what bow electronics are y'all using?
    (2) transducer on the TM power head or internal HD+ transducer?
    (3) getting any EMI (interference) on your DF display when the TM motor is running, either in Anchor mode or just normal running?
    (4) if you've corrected the EMI, what did you do?

I have an El Cheapo Garmin CV7, external xducer on mine and the EMI is crazy bad.... I've not pursued any remedies yet... I'd like to upgrade the bow DF but I'm concerned that it's the TM and it will induce noise on anything i use up front....

    Please Help...

On my 188p I have Garmin echomap plus with the gt52 transducer mounted to my tour pro and live scope on the shaft no interference on either I just ran good clean power to the bow and use the ferrite bead on the cable

Good info... I'm actually itching to go buy the Garmin EM UHD +, especially because they are os sale.

    Couple more questions:

Good clean power means a dedicated battery?
Garmin EM comes with ferrite bead correct?

I do not have a dedicated battery. Just ran it straight from the battery with good quality wire
Yes mine came with the ferrite bead
I had a striker 7sv before the EM’s and they are an upgrade for sure especially at the sale price.

I have a MG Tour on my RT w/ Helix 12". When I use the SI I have interference. I was told changing to dedicated power will fix this. So that's next on my list. What are Ferrite Beads?

Have a good one and thank God for it!

ferrite is a mu metal that absorbs Electro Magnetic interference. they are typically encased in plastic, made to snap onto signal cables, or run cables through. Many power tools have them on the AC line cord to "filter" off emissions caused by motors, etc...

    do a google search

I have a Garmin 10 inch Ultra and LiveScope connected to a 30 AH Lithium battery in the front Starboard locker. I also have a GT54 mounted on the trolling motor and attached to this same unit. I don’t have any interference on side scan or down scan but I have a slight amount on 2D sonar. In my experience, Garmin is more sensitive to interference than Lowrance and I think it is due to their chirp frequencies.
This setup is about as good as you can do, start with clean isolated power and keep the cables short and separated from EMI sources.
The other cable that can pick up EMI is the transducer cable, I try to route that away from EMI sources as best I can. I route it along the top of the mounting bracket as opposed to cable sheath. The reason for this is that the PWM motor controller generates EMI near the foot pedal and they travel up the power wires in the cable sheath creating an antenna.

I try to drive as if my 16 year old Grandson is following me

Thank you Mr. Reynolds, your expertise is always appreciated.
I may reach out to you once I start my install.

Where did you get that tiny 30Ah battery? I believe they sell that brand on Amazon...?
