    Prop Question

    Good morning!!!

I am just curious what prop you guys are running on your 201D's?

I have 98 Mariner 225 Mag with 25P Tempest. Im still a novice when it comes to boats, ive gotten it up to 62-63 with 1/4 tank and 2 people on boat. I'm 300 and other was 225-250. Hole shot is okay but when live wells are full I cant get it on plane or it takes forever with 2 people. I dont really care a hole about speed 50+ is more than fast enough especially when kids are on the boat fishing with me. Any suggestions on props?

That is a good prop for your setup and what you are looking for. What is your prop to pad? You may just need to adjust the height instead of buying a new prop. Would save some money too.

I have ran a 25p Tempest in the past and had no issues. Ran around 70, good holeshot with 2 people and full livewells. The only way you're going to get a better holeshot is if you move to a 4 blade. I'm running a 25p 4 blade Trophy Plus now

I would personally try raising it to around 3" and go from there. Most people I've talked to with similar setups run 2.5" to 3"

Are any of the vents plugged in your prop?

HAHAHA. That was going to be my follow up question.

I have 2 that have a med/lrg(want to say large but havent measured) hole plug and 1 no plug. Thats the way the boat was when I purchased it. We lowered it 3.5"when I got it. My buddy had 26P trophy he was going to let me test out and see if that made a difference.

You might try taking the vents out one at a time and see if that helps. Then if that doesn't help you can raise the motor. I stand firm that you will get the results you want with the prop you already have though.
