    Tilt/Trim

    Well I've been bit by the tilt/trim bug on my 2020 300R (serial number in sig). Sporatic behavior from any switch on the boat. Most of the time it doesn't work at all and sometimes I can hit the switch and it will work for an inch or two. Doesn't matter which direction I try. My motor doesn't have the top pin that has a tendacy to move or fall out.

    If this is occurring in BOTH directions (up and down), it may potentially be the trim motor. Get it in to your Authorized Dealer for service/repair.

    Contact your dealer as there was a batch of bad ones and a TSB from Mercury to have it checked out if the part number falls in that range.

    Going in the shop today. I'll post up the diagnosis once I find out.

    Dropped it off yesterday at my Mercury dealer. Pushed the switch and it was working in both directions. Has me wondering if water is getting into the motor and causing sporadic operation.

    Got the boat back yesterday. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong since it magically started working again. Going on a one week fishing/camping trip next week so we'll see if it does it again. Another issue found was one of the steering hoses was pinched between the ram mount and pump on the Atlas jack plate. Make sure your hoses don't hang down in that area.
