While the transducer is stopped the module barely draws any power. As long as your wiring and battery are good and you didn’t previously have any electrical noise, 12 V is 12 V. I’ve installed them with and without a switch . Either way works. In my personal boat, the console HDS wakes up both the 3D and AT2 and shuts them off with the yellow wires all tied together. In your situation, I’d run your 50 AH battery through a switched breaker (blue seas) up to a fuse box and run all you electronics off it.

Turning off sonar is a manual process and everyone is different. You'll have to look in your manual for the exact key sequence. Stop Sonar stops the transducers from transmitting.

Do not use power from the trolling motor batteries…….ever…….for anything. You are just asking for interference issues. Not even sure it will run on 24 V. Up to 16 yes but didn’t know 24 V. Either way DON’T DO IT.

    Thanks for the help.
if a person has lithiums, that’s now over 26v. It (the AT) works just fine with 12–13v and won’t burn up.

Burning up the AT, if it’s rated for max 24v. You mentioned the possibility of using the TM batteries. If a person did that and had lithiums, it could be bad.

The ghost is fine with lithiums.

If you’ve never had AT before, there shouldn’t be anything you need to do. I just hooked mine up and both a Carbon and Live automatically activated AT features. Putting the AT under control of the bow HDS is a good idea. Mine is controlled by my console unit so it will turn on sometimes when I’m just running to a spot. I will just use the Stop Sonar menu item to protect the transducer. Will finally get to use mine for the first time next week most likely.
