    Low Pressure Pump Delete Wiring

    Hi everyone,

I have removed my low pressure fuel pumps and installed a 10 micron Yamaha water separator, Relay and Carter Fuel Pump. I wired the the relay into blue wire of my VST High pressure fuel pump as a few folks did on Youtube. I have seen others wire in differently. Can anyone tell me if tapping into the blue wire is correct? When I turn the key on, I can hear the VST fill and my new fuel pump comes on. However, when i start the motor, the new fuel pump is off. Is the new pump supposed to stay on? or go off after a bit until the tank get empty? Any help or pics would be very helpful.

    Thanks,
    Chris

The OX66 models use a two speed high pressure fuel pump.

The blue wire is grounded when the key is on, during cranking and then when the RPM is above 1500.

At RPM's below 1500 the blue wire is not grounded. A brown wire is grounded through a resistor to cause the pump to run at a reduced speed when fuel needs are less.

Any positives to this besides just not having to replace LP pumps? Does it run better, etc even when comparing to good LP pumps?

IMHO yes mine runs better, more consistant with starting and running. Anytime you add more complexity [3 pumps] you are just asking for problems. CJ

I did this and I feel like it starts easier and idles better than when the LP pumps were on it.
