    Trailering With Graphs

How many of you remove your graphs before trailering your bass boat? I know a few guys that remove their graphs before trailering because they are concerned about vibration damage.

Mine are safely stored away. I like to sell them when it's time to upgrade so I want them to be in as good shape as possible.

I’d be more worried about vibration on the lake than on the road. Mine stay on all the time.

only time they are on the boat is when the boat is in the water, or shortly before and after.

Mine stay on. I’m more apt to drop them taking them on and off, then something actually happening to them locked on the boat.

They should be constructed and tested to withstand any shock and vibe that they will experience mounted on a boat. The shock and vibration they will experience amounts to nothing compared to what rugged electronics can withstand.

I've left them on since the late 70's. Different brands and sizes of units, different boats and different trailers. Never a problem.

They only come off if I'm staying in a motel or campground.
No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.

That's the way I look at it too. If they don't break running in 3-4 footers for 20-30 miles on the Columbia River, what's a little road vibration. And no, I have not driven on any roads in Texas.

I take mine off after every trip. I only have 2 units, and it takes less than a minute to remove, and maybe 2 min to install in the morning. I’m sure I can spare the extra few minutes it takes to pull them and place them in a hard case.

Interesting reasons. For those that remove your graphs at motels and campgounds, do you leave the majority of your rods, reels, tackle and gear in the boat?

If I stay inside a room than a electronics, rods, sunglasses, hard baits, weights/hooks, line and anything of real value goes in with me. That 5 minutes is worth my peace of mind.

I leave them on unless I know I'm going to be driving in heavy rain.
