Hot foot pedal not returning to idle

Hey y’all. Needing some help. So I installed a Hot Foot on my boat maybe 4-5 months ago. Everything works fine but recently I noticed the pedal doesn’t always return to idle. I can however pull it back easy with my foot. I’ve taken the cable off where it connects to the engine and it works perfect returns to idle everytime with it disconnected from the motor. The throttle on the motor however when pushed by hand open doesn’t return all the way to idle. So what’s the deal and how can I fix it?

Spring action is in the HOTFOOT, and spring tension is adjustable.

We will need some engine info to be of any more assistance, however.

Tighten up the return spring on the hotfoot and lubricate all pivot points of the hotfoot (as well as cable ends) with light-weight oil. Then see if it's not improved.
