The unit is definitely not connecting to AC. The screen below with "mobile device connected" is what you should see when connected. I just went through the connection process again on my bench so try this.
1. Without turning the Garmin unit on go to WiFi settings on your phone. Turn off the "auto join" to your home Wifi so it's searching for other available WiFi
2. Turn on the Garmin unit and wait for it's WiFi to appear on your phone. Connect to it when it appears
3. Once WiFi connection is established between phone and Garmin open AC app on your phone and then AC on the Garmin. Shouldn't matter which one first but this is the order in which I did/do it.
If this doesn't work you're back to calling support on Monday to have them walk you through the problem. You might try formatting a clean (no data) SD card for AC one more time and going back through the steps above afterwards. Like I said, I've had my units for four years and its always been a bit finicky connecting until I started using the sequence above. Good luck
EDIT - One more thing. If you format a new card (or not) you should still open the AC app on your phone, select "settings" and at the bottom of the menu select "reset app". . . then proceed with process #1
