    The unit is definitely not connecting to AC. The screen below with "mobile device connected" is what you should see when connected. I just went through the connection process again on my bench so try this.

    1. Without turning the Garmin unit on go to WiFi settings on your phone. Turn off the "auto join" to your home Wifi so it's searching for other available WiFi

    2. Turn on the Garmin unit and wait for it's WiFi to appear on your phone. Connect to it when it appears

    3. Once WiFi connection is established between phone and Garmin open AC app on your phone and then AC on the Garmin. Shouldn't matter which one first but this is the order in which I did/do it.

    If this doesn't work you're back to calling support on Monday to have them walk you through the problem. You might try formatting a clean (no data) SD card for AC one more time and going back through the steps above afterwards. Like I said, I've had my units for four years and its always been a bit finicky connecting until I started using the sequence above. Good luck

    EDIT - One more thing. If you format a new card (or not) you should still open the AC app on your phone, select "settings" and at the bottom of the menu select "reset app". . . then proceed with process #1

    Did you set up an account on the Garmin website when you bought/registered your unit? Not saying it shouldn't work without doing it but that is where you enter your profile information (email/phone/units/etc). Just trying to cover all the bases.

    I’m technologically challenged so take this with a grain of salt and I don’t know if it will even help.
    Have you updated the actual app on your phone? I was having trouble with the app and called
    Garmin support and they mentioned this to me. Didn’t know it was a thing. They gave me
    directions to go the App Store (iPhone) click on the blue face in the top right hand corner and
    scroll down to the updates. Sure thing I had several updates for several apps and the one for
    AC solved my problem and there have been several more updates since. It’s just a thought
    since I haven’t seen it mentioned yet in this thread.

    Also I get a similar message (need to install AC card) on my iPhone but it goes away after 10 or
    15 seconds. Even though it pops up I’ve never had any trouble downloading and installing soft-
    ware from my iPhone to my system over the last three years of owning it.

    the phone app is updated to the latest version. i do app updates on my phone daily

    Time to call Garmin support. They are great about walking through whatever issue you might be having. Recommend having your unit close by and fired up when you call. Let us know the resolve after talking with them.
