    Side scan?

What do you think about this? Right, wrong, or something else.

Not totally wrong, Not right, but something else. You can see what is very nearly directly under the boat on SI. You can easily prove this by going over a known big stump (say 2 ft diameter) and observing both side imaging to down imaging together. Side imaging will catch the outer edges of the stump on both sides of and display it in SI. You'll see the stump clearly in DI.
Either the Lowrance person he spoke with doesn't know what he is talking about, or this guy didn't listen to all what tech told him. I suspect the latter. This guy needs to go back and watch the instructional vidoes that came out when HB and Low first came out years ago with side imaging. He is looking at it in terms of a camera iimage and not in terms of a reconstucted image and internal calculations of frequency shifted echos of sound waves.
