    Questions about Florida strain largemouth

My fishing partner and I are considering heading down to southern Missouri this Spring or Summer to fish some private strip pits. These pits have Florida strain bass in them. I know that the Florida strain don't like cold fronts, but beyond that I know nothing about them since I've never fished anywhere that has them. Any pertinent information about them that may help? We generally take our fishing trip to southern Iowa in mid-to-late April or early May when water temps are generally around 55-60 degrees. Would we be wasting our time fishing for Florida strain bass in water that cold? Any information or tips would be appreciated.

Trying not to overthink it, but all I've ever heard about them is that they hate the cold, so I wasn't sure if that was mainly just cold fronts or if it was also cold water in general.

It is the people from Florida who don't like cold fronts.

I have heard June bug color plastics. But I have never caught any FL strain.

It’s not the cold, it’s the cold front, the change in weather. They’re just like any black bass you catch them on a warming trend they will eat the exact water temperature doesn’t really matter.

Went to Florida once in early April. Fished one of the Toho lakes , a lake near Disney and Rodman. Once we found them catching was easy. Air temps were mid 60s. Blustery with wind and rain storms the days we fished.

I have found the first generation or two of those bass can be fickle. But once they are in those northern waters for a few generations, they tend to adapt just like the northern strain.
