gas shock on bilge compartment lid

Was wondering why Caymas did not install a gas shock on the bilge compartment lid, all other lids have them, just curious if there is a reason besides cost.

This is primarily for on the water access, the gas shock would limit how far you can open the hatch.

Kind of what I was thinking, wonder if the hinges can be damaged if the lid is open 180 degrees, don't think it will go that far but is there anything keeping it from opening that far ?

Phoenix and skeeter have gas struts. Just finished shopping for my next rig and this is one thing I was looking for.

A fancy one that is easy to disconnect at one end would be ideal for this. Best of both worlds.

And one of these! It really needs two shocks, mine stays up but it’s easy to come down if you hit it! [IMG][/IMG]
