    2014 521c / 2013 250 Pro XS 4stroke question?????

I have a 2014 521C and just powered it up with a brand new 2023 mercury pro XS four stroke with a 24p Fury prop. I Took it out today broke it in the two hours exactly the way they told me and then decided to open it up. After trim up I was only able to turn 5100rpms and only get 50mph. Boat had 1/4 tank of gas, no tackle, and two persons approx 450 lbs. Is this normal for new engine? Could engine not allow it to be open all the way??? Look forward to responses.

I had 250 Pro XS 2stroke and was able to get 62-65 just with me and no tackle.

Probably need to go back to dealer and have them recheck that throttle is getting to 100%. Seems to be a common problem

Also noticed water pressure not registering on smartcraft.

They don’t come with a digital water gauge . Have to add it. The older hot foots are an issue to get and keep calibrated correctly for wide open throttle. And a 24 fury is gonna be too big

A guy on youtube was running 24p fury on 521c and turning 6000 at 70mph.

Go over to the Mercury board and search. I have allot of details on repowering with the V8 on a Z21. That 250 needs to run at 6200 rpms WOT with a 23P Fury 3 blade that has been true pitched. Not a box prop.

As stated previously, the hot foot must be set with the laptop for demand/demand linear. Some dealers are having issues with this. It can be done with your existing hot foot.

You will loose speed with a 23 Fury. I recommend staying with the 24.
