2007 Stratos 201XL ? how are these boats possibly looking at one.

Is there anything in particular that I should look at on this boat if I get the chance to go look at it?
    thanks.

    Couple of things,

    Trailer
If trailer has vault hubs, check for seal leaks on backside of rotor.
Check rear two crossmembers at the lowest point for rust and rot as mentioned.
Check brake fluid level and color.
Check the date on the tires.

    Boat
Ask if they have service or maintenance records.
Brand of motor and model year?
Perform compression check, check lower unit gear oil
look for seal leaks on the hydraulic steering/ram.
Look for cracks inside the splashwell / transom.

I have a 05 201 pro xl and i love mine. Lots of storage in the front deck.

Message me if i can help and/or answer questions.

    Good luck!

I have a 2006 XL 21. I love the boat. I had to upgrade the trolling motor and the sonar but at the price I paid I allowed for that.
The boat has no wood but you do need to make sure the hull has no cracks or gouged out fiberglass were water can get in and water
Log foam. They have very strong transoms but I would still rock the motor with owner’s permission to make sure there is no unusual give. Also check for cracks and stress fracture. Obviously check out bilge and live well functions. The Stratos has a recirculating and aeration system that you need to check out. Make sure accessory switches all work. See above advice that’s been covered by others for motor and trailer.
    Good luck

I would ask if that is the original block on the Etec. They had issues mroe than others.

He is the second owner he doesn’t know the history so I’m having the best etec mechanic in northern illinois go through it before I buy it.

Pull out the insert on the rub rail. You'll see the screws. It's easily reinserted with the help of a screw driver or panel tool.

Probably the best boat ever made. Mine had a 225 etec on it when I got it but I upgraded to a 250 G2. Its a 70 mph boat even with the 225 and you can drive at that speed with your hands in your lap. Buy the thing and don't look back...

Looks like this isn’t going to happen seems seller isn’t interested in me Paying to have the motor checked out at my cost. He had no idea on hours and the read out would be nice to see any overheating. Time to move on.

You made the right decision. I am not interested in selling mine but if I was I would show you all my service records and read outs. I would certainly let your mechanic look it over all he wants. In fact I would get you in contact with the original owner. The reason is I have nothing to hide.

Definitely time to move on. If you're paying for the inspection, he has nothing to lose. If he is honest, which at this point is highly unlikely.
