Istokpoga in late April early May

I have a house to stay at for free Lake June in Winter in Lake Placid. How is the fishing that time of year on both?

Im by no means an expert but usually go to Istokpolga every year in mid March, I have however been there around Mother’s Day a couple of times. I’ve always done well fishing the grass around big island. If it’s windy the lake can get rough! But you can usually get out of the wind at some point around the island. I always fish out on the edges and look for any change in the grass line or indented pockets. Everything there looks good to throw at but just don’t get overwhelmed. I pretty much just fish soft plastics. If wind kicks up be careful the lakes only 5-5 feet deep in slot of places and it gets sporty quick. 1 other thing, that time of year the bluegill are on fire get some crickets and a cane pole and get up in the Lilly pads on the south end of the lake and you’ll have a ball!!!
