    Taking apart Daiwa reels

I have two new Daiwa baitcasters that I am trying to take apart and clean, but some of the screws (particularly the ones holding the drive shaft assembly to the frame) are impossible to budge. I believe I read somewhere that Daiwa uses some form of Loctite on their screws; does anyone have any solutions for taking these screws out? Love these reels but not being able to properly service them because of some unnecessary glue is frustrating!

Heat up the end of the screwdriver, then use the tip of the driver to heat up the screw. May take a few times of doing this to get the blue loctite to break loose.

I havent had a problem with those screws in years. They used to use loctite on older daiwas in those screws that were dubbed “daiwa death screw”. Use a quality precision screw driver and they come right out. Have not noticed and loctite on those screws for quite some time. Only frame screws and handle screws.

Make sure you’re using a PH1 sized screwdriver for the screws on the daiwas

You can also use a hair dryer to get some heat into it without damaging the reel or screws.
