    The last 747.

The last Boeing 747 was delivered to Atlas Air at CVG here in N. Ky. this week. I think it had a great run in aviation history.

I was stationed on Guam in November 1970 when one of the first 747s landed at the airport. Pan Am was offering tours the day after it landed so we went over and walked through it. From the outside it looked like a spaceship. It was so huge. It was a very impressive plane. I wish I had been able to take a ride on one of them.

the last one was just built and placed INTO service. Trust me…there is still a BUNCH of them flying people to and from. Go get a plane ticket and fill your wish.

y’all are acting like it was the last 747 to go to the crusher.

Yeah, most airlines have retired the queen for more fuel efficient twin engine jets.

LOL pretty sure I have permanent hearing loss from being in the back of several 727's when I was younger.

The 747 is the aircraft that Boeing leveraged their future on. If it had not been a huge success, it's likely that Boeing would not exist today. And yes, they are MASSIVE and a very impressive aircraft. I actually got to help a loadmaster for Atlas Air fuel one up and prep it for a flight from Copenhagen to JFK. Just a short 9 hour flight and a measly 190K pounds of fuel...lol.

When taxiing one, you have to remember that the NLG is 15 feet AFT of your seat...

I regret I never got to the opportunity to fly her. Had been hired, but the economy crash of 2008 killed the dream. I did get some sim time, what an iconic aircraft.

They definitely have a lot of life left. My company bought 40 new ones…400 and 800s.

If you’re Ever in middle GA and want some 707 time, I’m the ATD manager, and can get you in the sim

747's are still in passenger service by Asiana Airlines, Air China, Korean Air and Lufthansa (code share with United).

I helped to build the last 747. It left Wichita about 7 months ago.
