    Should I guy but a 2000 225hp Evinrude???

Hey, I'm looking at a Ranger with a 2000 225hp Evinrude, this boat is at a Marine dealer, salesman says outboard has checked out in great condition. compression has checked out good also. So I'm Wondering if I should pass because Johnson/Evinrude outboards are no longer being Mfg? And will I have a problem finding a Mechanic that can work on it? And will finding parts be difficult? Hmmmmmmm. Southern Indiana.

Model # E225FPLSSH Marine dealer knows the boat and owner. The boat was purchased at this dealer, and they serviced it on a regular basis. They are willing to do a Compression check and leak down check for free, as long as I would be buying the boat, per everything checking out , A-Ok. Again my only concern is if and when I would need a repair or service , would I be able to find a mechanic and or parts? Mark in Southern Indiana.

I have a 04 225 DI, almost all the parts for mine are available with the exception of injectors, emm, and fuel pump. Injectors can be repaired along with the emm. Fuel pump....not so sure. As for service, I'll find someone if I need too but the former evinrude dealer wont touch it.

If it is a Ficht absolutley not, run away from that deal. Worst outboards ever made.

I wouldn't buy a 1st gen Opti either but they weren't as bad as the Ficht.

Yeah, they weren't that bad only bad enough that Opti owners filed a class action suit against Mercury and won.

Ok, physically they weren't as bad of a motor as a Ficht and they fixed what was wrong with them with updated parts. The Ficht was junk all together, never heard of a power head completely coming off while running down the lake with an Opti but that was a problem with the Ficht.
