Ok, physically they weren't as bad of a motor as a Ficht and they fixed what was wrong with them with updated parts. The Ficht was junk all together, never heard of a power head completely coming off while running down the lake with an Opti but that was a problem with the Ficht.

I've ran the Fichts and DFI's for 20 years.....never heard of that one......Do I sense a troll??

Look at www.marineengine.com for parts availability. 2000 is a one off motor just like the 1999 version nothing is compatible in the power head, I'd look for a different motor.

I’ve had mine 23 yrs. runs great all these yrs. Only a couple of problems 1 my starter went out changed it my self and 2 starter relay other than that nothing!! Just normal servicing!! Good luck

Still trying to decide. I'm thinking I'll be better off trying to get a deal good enough for this boat inorder to be able to repower it with a Merc or Yamaha in the future.

Well when you decide let us know the Yammie series 2 hpdi are pretty good, the ox66 is a good one so those are also some engine suggestions.
