Watched Challenger from my backyard. Columbia I was outside looking for it. When it was 10 minutes overdue I knew something bad had happened and went inside to watch the news coverage.

I was fishing a tournament on Lake Whitney The lake was still not a ripple on the water. We heard the BOOM and the lake rippled and the boat rocked. Looked up and saw what was left coming down.

Challenger, I was at work when a co-coworker said it. Columbia, I don't remember the specifics, other than I knew soon after it happened.

I would've been in college, but I don't really remember it that well. I remember it happening, but it wasn't something that stuck in my mind.

I was right there close to you, was fishing the pads at the mouth of Little Caney. Can still remember the boom and then looking up to see it in the sky. Didn't know what it was until the wife called and told me a few minutes after.

As for the Challenger, watched it happen live in my 5th grade class in Del Rio, TX.

The day of the Challenger disaster, I was in the middle of a corporate task force meeting when a member from the launch supporting company received a call of the disaster....a very eerie feeling and our meeting was abruptly ended. I was watching the Columbia landing on TV when it happened.

I was at work. Our shift started at 7 AM. The environment in the factory was very loud and we wore hearing protection, but I heard (and felt) the boom from the Columbia as it came apart.
