    Spinner Bait Rod

Guys I'm looking for a spinner bait rod for long cast in open water. I will be throwing 1/2 and 3/4 oz baits.

For spinnerbaits , chatterbaits , buzz baits , swim jigs ,,, Dobyns Champ XP 734 is the best I have ever used ,, I got rid of all my other Dobyns rods long ago but the 734's are just a special rod that I have not found a replacement for

I know many love this rod, I've had several in the Powell vintage and just can't find a spot in my lineup and have sold them off. For the Powell version, I think it has something to do with the handle length, which is short for a "HVY" action rod. May be different for Dobyns which I think are slightly lighter on the action compared to Powell for the same rod model.

For open water chucking heavy baits I'd go with a Powell Endurance 755cb.

Also consider the OXIM Factor or IKOS Promise 7 or 73 if you want to be $200 or lower.

I am a dedicated high end rod user and I found the Ark B-Hitty 7’4” composite glass rod to be one of the best rods for what you are using. The price is like $129 and I have 2 of them use them for chatterbaits also

Found them by accident at a small shop in my area. Good bang for the buck

Tatula Elite Howell big topwater/chatter/spinnerbait. Nice softer top third to bomb casts and let them take the bait and stout backbone below that.

Longer casts with a 1/2-3/4 in open water I prefer 7'6"+ rods. Mod-fast blanks I like braid+fluoro leader and fast tapers I prefer a copoly like PLine CXX.

    Custom MHX CB907 (crankbait blank for 3/8 - 1 3/8)
Phenix Ultra MBX Classic 707MH (fast taper 3/8-1oz).
Megabass OG Orochi 7'11" Cyber Shootist (crankbait rod for 3/8-1oz).

I know these rods may not be available any longer, but just for reference of type tapers and powers for your consideration.

For 3/8 and 1/2oz, I've been using an Oxim Agent. 3/4, I use an Ikos Promise 73. Absolutely no complaints from me.

I like the OG Max 765cb for the 3/4-1oz spinnerbaits.

Had no idea there was such a rod. IMO there is a hole in Powell's lineups for deep cranking rods. I use the new Max 7104cb and it's OK. Just wish there were other choices not all 7-11 rods for deep cranking. I have used the Max 754cb for deep cranking and it's not bad for chucking big cranks.

    Spinnerbait Rod ….???
All you need to do is look at the most successful, spinner bait stick in the sport.
Look at what he uses, and what he’s used for a decade, catching more fish on a spinner bait, then anybody on the planet.

Alpha Angler Chatterbound is obviously a good bladed jig rod, but may be an even better spinnerbait rod.
