Motor Steering Locks and Motor Tote

Is it necessary or just recommended to use the steering locks on the steering rams when using a Motor Tote type device as a transom saver?

I dont use the steering locks when local. I do use them on out of town trips to help keep everything secured.

I used to use the steering stops before I got a MotorMate However, it seems to keep the motor from rocking back and forth or turning, so I don't use them anymore. JMHO

We have crap roads so I use them. I have them and they take 10 seconds so I figure it’s worth it. Is it necessary, I can’t honestly say. I’m just a piece of mind kind of person.

I like the fact that steering clips protect the surface of shaft. Mine sits out in the weather
