Got out Saturday and got my first 2 hours of break in complete with new 4 stroke. I was pleasantly surprised by performance. Hole shot was better than my 2 stroke. Mid range was also better. I did hit WOT twice. Top speed was 73.7mph. 1 person, 3/4 tank, medium load. 4.5" ptp and 23 fury no plugs. I was running 6100 rpm wide open. Want to raise plate and try a 24 at some point. Just felt like I ran out of prop on top. But overall was very happy.

Nice. What was the old setup? numbers?
With my two stroke I have hit 76mph. But with the load I had Saturday the speed top end was maybe a shade slower than the 2 stroke. I ran a 25 fury 3 and a 26 tempest on the 2 stroke. 3"-2.5" below pad.

Once it's broken in I can't see there being much difference in top speed between the two motors. I mean, 250 horsepower is 250 horsepower. The difference is in the torque curves. Torque comes on sooner with a 4 stroke than it does a 2 stroke.
But, yeah, I'd finish the break in and play with PTP and prop size.
I agree. I think the torque is much better on the 4 stroke, which surprised me. I do think a 24 fury and raising the plate about an inch might get me 1 or 2 mph on top.
