I'm a huge fan of using the Z-Man Razor Shadz on a Jackhammer!

I'm also thinking the Spunk Shad in this body type category, both Hog Farmer's and the subcontract they sent out Missile Baits. Also, the Razor Shadz doesn't run quite as deep as salted baits, doesn't do well with dyes, and isn't as bulky as some techs where the chatter/bladed jig is meant to mimic a crawfish or where more bulk is wanted.

No such thing as "BEST"...more like "best preferred" and per the time, place, and situation.

I make my own chatterbait trailer and love the action it provides. Kinda like a twin tail grub but the tails are longer than a typical grub. Swim jig, spinnerbait, chatterbait, I've pretty well settled on one trailer. Makes it easier to figure out what to carry. The best part is during testing, it seems the smaller fish will simply grab the tails and not get the hook, but bigger fish inhale the whole bait, keeps most of the 13 and unders off the hook.

Has anyone noticed that the Zako doesn’t have much action? That and the Strike King blade minnow are the only two I really throw but they barely move much at all. Just curious if it’s because I’m reeling too slow or using too stiff of a rod

Less resistance makes it hunt more. Spunk shad or zoom split tail for hunting. If I want it to track true then use a trailer with resistance or throw a spinnerbait.

Had a custom mold made a handful of years ago and have had good success with this trailer. At the time there was not really options for a this kind of profile. It was fun fine tuning the design. After finding the right plastisol the mix I use holds up great to multiple catches.

Most want their trailers to have very little independent action and resistance because that is the blades job, the more action the trailer has the more it hinders the blades action.

I don't find that to be the case with all action trailers. I use a split tail spinnerbait trailer 98% of the time. It has great action but doesn't inhibit the blade one bit. I do find that paddle tail trailers do dampen the action of a bladed jig, however.

Not all of course there’s going to be varying degrees, a split tail trailer has no inherent action, it’s action is almost completely imparted by the blade. I have some homemade chatterbaits that will totally stall with a paddletail trailer.

The Razor Shad is definitely my go-to trailer. I don't like anything with a paddle tail and that includes the Zako, which really hinders the action of the chatterbait.
That big Bite trailer would be great if it didn't have holes in the tail. They get caught on the hook just often enough to be an aggravating dealbreaker for me.

The last time I left a Zman trailer on my chatter bait the skirt deteriorated, outside of that I like their products.
