250 SHO tilt/trim question, help needed

Doing some upgrades and maintenance on my boat, nothing on the engine. I had been bumping my blinker trim lever and had been working perfectly. I needed to lower the engine a few minutes later and the trim motor will not run. The solenoid is working fine, my fluke shows 12.5 vdc both directions. Is there any electrical connections in the trim motor? Not pulling any amps.

Are the other trim buttons also not working?

Mine did this last summer. After pulling the boat out at the ramp, I trimmed it down to drain the water out but it wouldn't trim back up. solenoids would click but nothing else. once I got the motor up manually, I pulled the trim pump motor to check it and it ran fine. I reinstalled the motor and it's been working fine ever since. Not sure what the problem was but try pulling the trim motor off and see if it turns.

All trim buttons work, everything works but the motor. The solenoid reverses as it should. There is no current (amps) draw. Motor is totally quiet and has voltage. It worked, 10 minutes later it didn't. I will have to remove it I suppose, I to check internals. Brushes and any connections. Just wondering is there any common issue that I should look for?

Remove the pump motor power feed wires from the relay. Connect them directly to a fully charged, known to be good, battery. If the pump motor does not run, it's the pump motor. If the pump motor runs it's the relay.

I assumed that, just wanted to make sure there was no internal connections that would come loose or burn. I worked in the mechanical trades for 48 years. I dealt with a lot of electrical, mine was high volt a/c. If I had vdc is was very low, milli volts usually. Thanks

Removed the motor and disassembled. Has a brush stuck. Going to give it a good cleaning tomorrow and try it.
UPDATE: Bought new brushes from a armature and magneto shop ($5). Soldered them in, appears to working perfectly. Time will tell.
