Grease for midsection, steering cables, etc?

Question: Does it matter what type of grease to use for the midsection, steering cable, trim pivot point, etc via the zerk fittings?

I have a tube of Lucas marine grease readily available or should I purchase OMC triple guard or quicksilver 2-4-C?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Well, FWIW I use nothing but Triple Guard grease. Has worked for me so well that I have no reason to switch nor try out something else.

I’m partial to triple guard as well but read I needed a lighter grease such as 2-4-c. Any truth to this?

Evinrude’s recommendation is Triple Guard grease for all of the items you listed. This is has been recommended for over 20 years. It works very well. If someone writes or says a lighter grease is needed then that someone should explain the details as to why.

    Read your service manual.

Unfortunately I don’t have a service manual (yet ). Old boat I acquired last year (92 Faststrike 150) and getting around to getting it running/lubed up.

Triple Guard it is as it seems to be the consensus!

If I remember correctly, something about how Triple Guard is a heavy grease that will cake up over time and seize.

    Triple Guard it is, thanks!

I MUCH prefer Lucas "Red n Tacky" grease for just about everything over Evinrude's Triple Guard Grease.
And it my Go To Grease for my Dexter Hubs on the trailer.
