John Crews boat rigging ...only two batteries

In these days of people adding a 5th battery, John is running two. Talk about a clean bilge. Love the terminal expanders.

I really like his videos. I'm curious to see the next video. He said he would explain why he's using the Balzout mounts up front instead of mounting the gimbals directly to the boat like he did last year.

Spending the money on the Balzout mounts probably isn't a big deal to him (if he even pays for them).. but I had planned to do exactly like he did his 2022 boat - mounting the gimbals directly to the boat. I'm curious if there's a reason I should reconsider.

Be interested to see the speed reports on that hull with such a light set up in it... Very clean Mr' Crews.

He had a vid on Instagram and it looked like he ran the bow graphs in a different combination they are all in a line.
Last year they were sort of staggered.

I would hate to have to know the ins and outs of three brands. I struggle as it is with 2.

He's got more faith than I would in batteries. If I was fishing for a living like him, I'd get batteries with half the capacity and get two of them with perko switches in case one craps out you can switch to the other one. That said, I'm guessing John has some spare batteries in the truck just in case.

I would also be willing to bet he doesn’t pay for them!

I like the fact that he rigs his own boat. Most pros don’t do that anymore.

Wonder what trolling motor he plans on running instead of the Lowrance like he mentioned. Maybe the new brushless Minn Kota?

I think Palanuik rigs his own boat as well. That said, I’m sure many pros have zero mechanical skills and belong nowhere near wiring.

Im guessing Crews is referring to the mythological power pole trolling motor b

I may be mistaken, but I could almost swear I've seen Basscat say somewhere before that the boats run better with the weight of regular batteries in the back vs light weight lithiums.

It's probably model specific. John's boat has tanks that go all the way back. He probably needs less weight back there than someone with tanks under the seats. I have considered adding weight to my P2.
