    Any 6mm gurus here?

What’s the idea bullet and rifle twist? 1:9 seems to be common but not sure it performs best with lighter bullets.

243 mostly coyotes, I didn’t get the groups I expected with factory 75 gr vmax from a Ruger American. 22” barrel 1:9 twist.
I picked up some 87gr vmax to reload today.

My 243 shoots 55gr Nosler BTs just fine. I have a 9 twist as well. It may be the stock, scope, barrel, trigger or even the nut behind the trigger.

1:9 should be fast enough for about any lead bullet up to a high-BC 95gr or so. Faster twist is needed for heavier bullets, especially with high BC. Many 243’s are 1:10 twist, but there isnt really an accuracy downside Ive ever heard about to a faster than needed twist, doubt thats the culprit.

It could be me, but the scope came off my cz 204 that shot extremely well when it was on there. I have some 4064 that I plan to use.

What are you going to use it for? Varmints? Deer? Both?

1-10 is has been the standard for the .243. 1-9 or 1-10 Will work fine for the lighter stuff and will work with 100gr hunting bullets if you ever want to do that. You could go with a slightly slower twist if you wanted to max out your velocity potential and were sure you would never use the heavy bullets but I would stick with the classic twist.

Ive had good results with 90 nosler BTs with H4350 and imr 4831

I read lightet bullets like 80 and 70grs like RL15 and Varget...i load my 243 for deer so i tend to shoot 100gr or 90s

Try you some 85gr Sierra Game King BTHP's and about 43gr of IMR4831 (Start lower and work up to that). Haven't seen a 243 yet that wouldn't shoot that load well and that bullet performs great on animals.

Left it with my dad to work up a load for it and this is where he wound up, 43 gr of 4831 except with 87gr Vmax

That load and weight grain bullet range is hard to beat in a 243.......like I mentioned, I haven't seen one yet that wouldn't shoot lights-out with it.

I do not, my dad does a lot so I leave to him. I’m pretty knowledgeable just don’t have the equipment at my house.
