Center storage compartment depth?

Browsing used boats. Came across a 2004 285 Pro XL. Good looking boat but I'm wondering about the front center storage compartment. It looks like it has a small deeper area in the middle of the compartment that will hold maybe 6 or so 3600 or 3700 boxes. The rest of the compartment looks a lot shallower.

Wondering how much tackle can really be stored in that compartment and how you all have it organized for those that have a boat like this.

I own an ‘09 285xl and they should both be the same layout. In the middle compartment you should be able to hold about 8 3700 style boxes in there, back-to-back between each divider. As far as the depth minus the Plano box storage it’s fairly sufficient. Guessing about 10” deep and does goes back deeper towards the front of the boat a little ways.

Likewise, I have a 09 285XL and echo what Bigfoot said. 8 or so 3700 and I line my plastics around the sides, as well as, my terminal tackle.
