    Walleye on the hot side

I caught a Walleye last week on the hot side. I went back yesterday and caught another one and lost another at the boat. I saw a school of bait and some fish swimming under them on livescope.
I have only caught 2 on the cold side in 20+ years of fishing it. Definitely did not expect to catch them on the hot side.

we have been chasing bait and catching schooling bass. Most are 2lbs or less but fun

Did you eat it? And do they taste as good as the walleyes caught up north?

They haven't stocked Walley in many years, BUT they are now stocking Saugeye, a cross breed between female Walleye and a male Sauger. https://dwr.virginia.gov/wildlife/fish/saugeye/

I did not eat them. I heard about the saugeye but again would not have expected them on the hot side.
