    Onboard charger brand

Any suggestions on what brand onboard charger to get for my boat. Need a 3 bank charger. I currently have a Minn kota that was in the boat when I got it but it’s only a 2 bank charger. I see NOCO and Minn Kotas seemed to be the two biggest players. I’ll take info on any pro/cons, TIA.

I had a Minn-Kota in my old boat, never had an issue with it. My current boat has a Noco and again no issues.

I recently had to change onboard chargers when changing to lithium on the trolling motor while retaining the AGM on my big motor. I had two requirements, the ability to select battery type by bank and a charger with a small footprint.
The NOCO Genius filled both those requirements very well and I have been happy with it.

My NOCO GEN 3 is around 10 years old and has been trouble free. When it was new 10 years ago it had a feature built internal that can sense if a battery is AGM or flooded lead acid and send the charge profile that best suits the battery type. The new ones being made now days can charge flooded lead acid, AGM or Lithium. Each lead on the charger has a selector button and you select the battery type so the charger can send the correct charge profile. You can mix the battery types. For example you can have a 4 bank with an AGM cranking, 24V trolling motor that is lead acid and a house battery for electronics that is lithium. Simply select what battery type each lead is going to. Once you select the type you leave it alone as long as you keep the same battery type hooked to the lead. If I was in the market for a new charger I would definitely take a look at NOCO.

I’ve had both Minn Kota and NOCO with no issues

You may not have lithium’s now but I would make sure to get one that can charge them so you have options in the future

If you look at Minn Kota’s PCL 3 bank compared to NOCO’s GenPro 3 bank you will see they are about the same price and size but the NOCO is 1/3 more weight

Issues with Minn Kota after a few years, it quit charging AGM’s.
Went to Noco and glad I did. Noticeable difference with performance of my old batteries.

I have had both MK and Noco. If I had to go new right now, my choice would be the MK PCL (lithium capable). Dual Pro had a stellar reputation, but the last few years, there have been many complaints about charging AGM’s with them, even with the Delta Volt technology.

Dual Pro? I don't know. Mine sits on my work bench. Can't handle my X2. Common problem that I learned the hard way.

I had a Noco. Gave that to my buddy.
Use a Minn Kota PC now.
