    Proper Size Butt Connctors

What is the proper size butt connector I should use to splice Helix power PC11( 18 G) to 10 G power running to fuse block?

I have not been able to find any step down connectors marked for that size, most are look to be marked for 2-4 difference in wire size. ie 10/12-6/8.

    Try a closed end connector.

I’ve had luck just using 1 side of the butt splice (yellow) . Then heat shrink

I use 1/4 inch spade connectors for this. I would prefer bullet connectors but have not been able to determine if the bullet is the same size on a red connector as on a yellow one.

While searching for additional information, I ran across this video.

Ranger uses these for Trolling motor direct wiring but it may be a little large for your needs.
It would be great if smaller.

Like this to connect 1 graph power and ground to 10awg going to fuse box instead of butt connectors?

Strip about an inch and a half of insulation off your smaller wire. Bend the stripped bare wire in half, then in half again. Should end up with just enough to go into the butt connector. I used Ancor Marine wire and connectors when I re-wired my boat.

Thats what I do when butt splicing wires of different sizes. Number of folds is determined by size difference.

Here are the butt connectors I use made by ancor. Made for the marine industry and heat shrinked:

I also used Ancor Marine tinned copper wire for all of my wiring, and ancor spade connectors and ring connectors for the fuse blocks and battery connections. No corrosion at all. Ancor makes great products!
