    Bite at Santee?

I am heading to Florence in the morning to spend new years with my brother. His truck has been in the shop since mid October so we are going to fish on Sunday.
I grew up fishing Marion as a kid , but moved away 20 + years ago so I have only fished it in March or June since.
Has anyone been catching fish lately or this week with the warmer weather?

I'm flying in to visit a relative on the 21st and 22nd that lives by Marion and he says we won't be fishing santee cooper. He says we will be fishing the cooper river only both days. I have no idea why because santee cooper is always in the top 10 of best bass lakes. I guess maybe because it's a tough bite in winter or something? I would also like to know why they can't be caught in winter on santee. Any locals chime in?

He probably wants to fish lower end of river for speckled sea trout or red fish. River can be loaded with trout this time of year up to brackish water in Goose Creek.

Maybe due to lake levels, I haven't checked, but there are some good fish in the Cooper out in the rice paddy's. I don't know how far they get up the Cooper but don't think they get above the railroad trestle. One of our Low Country members should chime in.

So santee cooper gets to high and pushes the bass way back into areas a boat can't get to?
