    Looking for recommendations

Looking to take my dad on a trip to fla to do some bass fishing he just retired and I have down time from now untill late Feb so I would like to find a destination to do some trophy bass fishing need some recommendations

How is the fishing this time of year?
What lake would you recommend ?
Is there relatively inexpensive lodging near by?

Okeechobee should be in spawn with a lot pre spawn hanging in grass if you can find it.

Get a guide and go to Fellsmere reservoir and stick marsh. I live in Florida and I am going to Texas.

Like Orion says, go to Texas, much better fishery management out there.
And there is no such thing as "reasonable " priced lodging in Florida

I'm new to Florida so can't recommend lakes. I bounced around airbnb's near central Florida for a few weeks recently at an average of about $60-70/night which is reasonable in my book. Try expedia and kayak for hotel prices, they're basically brokers that search out the best prices.

I would go to Headwaters, I just finished 3 weeks there. Lots of good guides that offer artificial and live bait trips.

Headwaters should be at the top of your list.

I recommend Headwaters as well and there is lodging within 30 minutes of the ramp. Stickmarsh/Farm 13 is another 2 miles up the road from Headwaters. Kenansville Reservoir shares the eastern boarder of Stickmarsh but you have to drive almost 60 miles around to get to the ramp. All 3 of those lakes are well known for trophy bass with Headwaters being the most popular.

Based on all the threads here lately, the good thing about Headwaters that time of year will be you won't even need a boat. You'll be able to walk anywhere you want to fish on the lake by stepping on other boats flipping decks

1/4 of the vehicles the past three weeks are guides and another 1/4 are us northerners while the remaining half are locals.

That's why I stay away from that place during snowbird season.

We've got 6 boats and 14 people coming down from Indiana in February. Hopefully your hotels, restaurants and gas stations don't mind us visiting. Oh by the way - I think it's probably one of the top 5 lakes in the country right now for bass fishing. The place is just awesome...

I wish FL would make non resident licenses $1000 a day.
