    Finish question

Can anyone here tell me what the black finish is inside the hull over the fiberglass in the XB2003. I had some trouble getting the epoxy off from the original in hull transducer and had to sand it back smooth. Most of the black coating/finish was removed in the process.

Good question that I can't answer.
If you're talking about the little tray the transducer fits inside.....I don't think it's fiberglass.
At least the one I dug an old transducer out of sure didn't look or act like fiberglass when I started digging out the epoxy.

Yes, the tray where I’m talking about. Best I can tell it should be same as all the black coating on the rest of the inside of the lower hull. Just not sure what it is.
The tray itself I’m pretty sure is just a thin fiberglass wall used to seal where the factory leaves the opening for the transducer between the actual bottom and what appears to be a “false” bottom.
