    Question Tempest on CX 21

Has anyone run or have any numbers on a 23 or 24 tempest on a CX 21. The 23Tempest I had on my Z21 was 4-6 mph faster and more lift than a 23 fury and 23 bravo 1? Both the tempest and fury were worked by Mark Croxton.

I just received my 24P Tempest Plus from Mark Croxton, I'm hoping to give it a spin in the near future. I have two friends that have the CX21/Mercury 250 ProXS 4S, both are running the Tempest Plus and feel the performance is better than the Fury. They are both seeing low to mid 70's depending on load.

The other thing that most people don't talk about is elevation. When I'm fishing eastern Washington lakes that are at an average of 1300 - 1500 feet above sea level. I normally run 3-4 mph slower than the western Washington lakes that average 100 - 300 feet above sea level.

Update….got a 24 tempest and it runs 3mph faster. It is faster out of the hole and has more lift. I hate a Fury prop! Can’t wait to get Mark Croxton to work the tempest.

What are the top speeds of you CX21. Im getting 62.8 mph with a Fury 24P - RPMs max 5700. I feel like I should be getting 68-70. This is with tackle, full tank of fuel and two people totaling max 450 lbs.

I was around 68 with the 24 fury. I do have a hydraulic plate but I’m not running much plate at all. I was getting 73 Saturday with the tempest at 6100

I think you running too much prop, I have ran a 24 Fury on my CX 21 with a 300R and did not hit 6200 rpms, I need to be turning 6400, it was in the Summer and pretty hot.

What was your vent plug configuration when you ran the 24P Tempest?

Awesome and thanks for the update. I tried a 25 tempest and it was too much prop.

This seems way too slow unless prop to pad height is wrong or you're not getting enough trim for some reason. RPMs aren't far off from what I see but that is significantly slower than i'd expect. 4-6 mph slower. A 23p probably will help but something else is wrong. Maybe the 24p is beat to hell, lake conroe can do that.

I’d say your JP is too high, needs to be 3-5 on the gauge, that’s where I’d start. Sounds like boat is too far in the water in my opinion.

How was the hole shot? The top end is very close to what I am getting with a 23" fury 3 blade.

You should be running upper 60s easily and pushing low 70s when set up properly. Something isn't right with your prop or set up.

Running a Mark's 24 tempest on my CX20. Better everywhere than the fury it came with it. I read post on good results with a Fury, I just couldn't get there. I have tried Fury's before on different boats with same results.
I think Fury props just don't like me. Mark's tempest are hard to beat I feel. I have had a worked tempest on last 4 boats.
